Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, November 25th at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Nov 26th at the Elm Springs Cemetery with Pastor Harold Delbridge officiating.

Jean (Johnston) Colvin,80, Rapid City, died Saturday November 22, 2014 at home. She was born on July 5, 1934 to William and Cecil (Richards) Johnston. She was the fourth of eight children. Jean grew up in Elm Springs, South Dakota where she attended Linn Elementary School and then New Underwood High School. She married Pat Cyrus Colvin on October 6, 1951. To this union, four children were born; Robin, Ronda, Rocky and Roxy. Jean and Pat lived mainly in western South Dakota making their home on a ranch south of Rapid City. In addition to ranching, they owned and operated an upholstery shop in Rapid City, AFCO Trim and Awning for 25 years. Jean and Pat owned and operated a motel, Laundromat and several rentals. After retirement, Jean was a card dealer in Deadwood. Jean truly enjoyed playing cards, horseshoes and was a softball player in her younger years. Her and Pat would have poker parties in which several friends and family would attend. In addition, Jean was a champion horseshoe thrower. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to compete in horseshoe tournaments. She also loved animals and riding horses. Jean was very active even into her later years. She rode horses and went four-wheeling up until her passing. In addition, she went skydiving, rode motorcycles, went whitewater rafting, hang gliding, and enjoyed gold-panning and traveling. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Pat Cyrus Colvin; her children Robin Rye (Colvin) Garrett, Ronda Rene Colvin, and Rocky Ryan Colvin; 3 grandchildren; 3 brothers and two sisters. Jean is survived by her daughter, Roxy Dix (Timothy); grandchildren Patsy Tines (Tom), April Lane (Shawn); Jade Rieb, Jebediah Rieb (Codi), Justin Garrett (Kathy), Jesse Rieb (Christa); Shy Bentley (Kip), Cassidy Wenger (Jerrod), and Jayl Rieb; 5 step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews. She was also survived by a special friend Ron Blanchard and his daughter Cindy Newmark (Ananda).
