Peter Knowles-Smith

Dr. Peter Knowles-Smith, MD, 82, Rapid City, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Rapid City Regional Hospice of the Hills. Peter was born February 26, 1931 in Hamilton, New Zealand, immigrated to Brandon Manitoba Canada in 1969 and to the USA in 1975. Doctor Knowles-Smith practiced medicine throughout North and South Dakota in many communities and cities, retiring from Martin, SD approximately four years ago, due to failing eyesight. Peter gave much of his spare time, energy and money to God and the B.V.M and affected many lives with his generosity. He will be missed by family and friends and his patients. Peter is survived by four sons, David and Anthony both of Rapid City; Michael, Sidney, Australia; John, Rapid City; his daughter, Catherine Cuny, Rapid City; grandsons, Tiani Hirscht, Portland, OR and Matthew Cuny, Rapid City; and granddaughter Opal Knowles-Smith, Auckland, New Zealand. He is preceded in death by his sister, Nancy and a granddaughter, Brooklynne.
