Michelle “Micki” Erk, 54, Hot Springs, went Home to be with the LORD Aug. 31, 2006. She was born June 26, 1952 in Rapid City, SD, to Lester and Viola (Harris) Collins. She was the youngest of 5 children.
She graduated Custer High School in 1970 and went on to get her cosmetology license in Rapid City. Following that, she worked in Custer and that is where she met her husband, Mike Erk. They were married in Custer on Oct. 26, 1979. To that union was born a daughter, Samantha. Micki loved being a wife, mother and friend, and enjoyed spending her time taking care of children. She was a generous spirit who loved giving of herself and helping others.
Grateful for sharing her life are her husband, Mike Erk of Hot Springs, one daughter, Samantha Spear and her husband Troy of Black Hawk, and one grandchild to be born in October. Her sister Vicki Neiderworder and her husband Larry of Philip, niece Shanna Neiderworder of Sioux Falls, and nephew Shane Neiderworder of Chamberlain and other numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Micki was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Viola Collins.
