August 20, 1947 - January 10, 2012 Service Date: January 13, 2012 Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, in Deadwood. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Friday, Jan. 13, 2012 at the church with Father Kerry Prendiville celebrating. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery. |

Alice “Samie” Wermers, 64, Lead, lost her three year battle with cancer on Tuesday Jan. 10, 2012. She was born August 20, 1947 to George and Ruby (Grimm) Schmitz in Rapid City. She grew up on a ranch outside of Rapid City and graduated from Rapid City Central High School. Samie married Allan Wermers in Deadwood on May 18, 1970 and they had two children. Samie is survived by her husband Allan, Lead; two daughters, Denise Wermers (Terry) Silbernagel, New Underwood and Eva Wermers (Zack) Scott, Virginia Beach, VA and five grandchildren, Alexandria, Jordon, Tyler, Jacob and Gavin. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Helen Casey and her brother Elmer Schmitz. | |
