Norman Glenn Rynders

Norm Rynders was born to Glenn and Vernita Rynders on 2 July 1939 in Hortonville WI. He was proud Hortonville Polar Bear and was the Basketball Team Manager for the high school’s winning year. He worked many, many hours in his father’s concrete business. He learned the value of work early and continued that through the rest of his life. He attended a semester of college, followed by joining the Air Force. He learned quickly to hate the heat and humidity of Texas and was stationed at Ellsworth. He married Lynn Miller and they had three children, Ray (who died at 3 days old), David, and Steven. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, Steven and Lynn. He is survived by David, and his family (wife Lisa, son Michael, daughter Jessica, and son Daniel). Steve’s surviving family includes wife Jacquie, grandsons Tanner and Dayton, step-granddaughter Jamie Foy with great-grandson Peyton, and step-granddaughter Casey Deines with her children Cyril and Kaylee Deines-Eisenbraun and Isabella Foote.
He worked at Sherwin Williams as a paint salesman for 30+ years. The Homestake Gold Mine was the absolute best place for him to go. He loved going underground and down to the 8,000-foot level. It was a real point of pride for him even 20+ year later. The onset of computers in the late 80s drove him into retirement. He hated all things digital and that never really changed. The only piece of technology he got along with, was the TV remote. As a second generation Packer fan, the game was always on.
He loved playing cards and was quite a shark. He owned and operated several businesses (gas stations, ice cream shops, and peanut vending machines.) He supported David’s and Steven’s Scout troops as a Committee Member. His favorite place was the cabin he built near Lead, SD. It was his refuge after Lynn and Steve’s death. He dedicated his life to taking care of Jackie, Tanner, Dayton, Jamie, and Kaycee as best he could until his death on 15 July 2020 from COPD. The 15th of July is Lynn’s birthday and the best possible present was to be able to breathe and see Lynn.
