John Douglas Molitor

John Douglas Molitor passed away peacefully Sept 11 2019. He was born in Burbank, CA on May 27th 1939 to Orville and Mamie (Peldo) Molitor. The family relocated to South Dakota when he was young– growing up in Deadwood, SD.
John worked several jobs he tried his hand at various positions such as a mechanic, truck driver, and his last as a logger, where he was severely injured forcing him to retire.

John liked to tinker; he liked fixing things, many things like THAT DATSUN! From what was in his storage unit he didn’t want to run out of parts for that car!! There were several things he enjoyed John was an avid book reader he could read all night if the book was an awesome read. He would tell us to get the book, then proceed to tell us how the story went by the time he was finished we didn’t need to buy the book! He was an avid animal lover he tried to care for as many as he could he would feed the strays even when he knew it was against to complex’s policy he just couldn’t stand to see them starve or freeze to death. John was good at lending a hand to help fix a car (sometimes the car fix didn’t go as planned) or help move family (his sister!!haha). He always had a joke or a story to tell– Here is a few that his brother Bill had to share
The fishing adventure–
When we would go fishing as kids which was a lot, 1 time about 10 minutes into it I turned around and John was gone I found him reading in the car. During 1 of the fishing trips I got a hook in my finger I turned around to ask John to help get it out and he nearly passed out and this was not the only time that blood made him squeamish the other time was when I was chopping wood and cut my thumb off with an axe never seen color drain that fast!
The chicken coop story—
It was getting kind of cold outside so we started a fire to get warm it was getting late and we needed to go down to the house for dinner, Dad could smell smoke but didn’t know why a bit latter 1 of our neighbors, Mr. Carr came over because he could see smoke turns out John and I burned down the chicken coop–we sure did get into trouble for that one.
The hunting story—
We used to go hunting together and one time we were watching a deer I took a shot at it we both raced towards the deer only to find out we both shot the same deer….good times

John is survived by his siblings: Delbert (Linda) Molitor of Phoenix, AZ, Bill (Sandra) Molitor of Sturgis, SD, 2 sisters Darlene Reiss of Rapid City, SD and Lila (John) Harmon of Brandywine, MD and numerous nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death his parents, numerous aunts and uncles
