Rudolph Klein, 82, of Rapid City, South Dakota died on February 10, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on January 31, 1936 in Artas, South Dakota and was the 10th child to John Klein and Rosina (Lander) Klein. He grew up on the family farm in Wetonka, South Dakota until 1963 when the family moved to Aberdeen. In October 1961, he got called into active duty serving that time in Ft Chaffee, AK where he served during the Cold War. He was in the reserves for 6 years at the 76th Transportation Company, serving as a driver and active duty for 1 year. He worked for Pete Lein, and later he started working for Pennington County, where he worked for 27 years. Towards the end of his life, he was still living on his own, drove himself to get groceries and get breakfast and was still able to make himself a plate of food. He is survived by his brothers Gideon “Gidy” Klein of Rochester Minnesota and Herold and Karen Klein of Aberdeen, South Dakota, daughter, Terrie Tooker, 4 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 4 sisters, 3 wives, and 4 step-children. | |
