Leona Hamlin

Leona Faye Hamlin, 83, Rapid City, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at home. She was born July 15, 1933 in Belle Fourche, to Emil and Florence (Schipke) Terpen. She attended schools in Rapid City and Hot Springs. She married George Heikkinen and they later divorced. She later married Alfred Hamlin. Leona worked as a housekeeper at the Holiday Inn. She enjoyed reading, touring the Black Hills, playing cards, visiting family, gardening and cooking. She is survived by her three children, Gerald Heikkinen and Debra Bodine, both of Rapid City and Dena Brunner, Colorado Springs, CO; five grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Chad, Brandy and Nicole,and numerous great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Al on October 6, 1983; two brothers, George and Aino Terpen and two sisters, Vivian Gilbertson and Margaret Terpen.
