Anthony Dankert

Anthony George Dankert, 40, died Thursday, November 10th 2016 at his home. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, to Connie and Don Dankert. Tony spoke fondly of growing up in Florida, his love of the ocean, and deep sea fishing. Tony met Kimberly Ochsner Dankert in 2007, while working with his close friend, Russell Ochsner, at Ochsner Sheet Metal. When recalling that day, his eyes would light up. The only way he could explain the moment he saw her was, “Love at first sight”. They were married November 21, 2008, at Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. They moved from Sturgis to Rapid City in 2009. Kim and Tony shared many common interests, such as their love of the outdoors and target shooting, and often took Zeva, their German Shepherd, up in the hills with them. Tony was possibly the most patriotic person I have ever met. The National Anthem brought tears to his eyes nearly every time. A childhood accident prevented him from being able to serve in the military, but he found many other ways to show his undeniable loyalty and love for his country. Tony enjoyed visiting the VA veterans on Veterans Day, bringing them cake, and visiting with them. Tony often reminisced about his grandfather’s “war stories,” and told them in such an animated and humorous way. He proudly displayed his support with green porch lights and the American flag in front of his home. Tony was interested in various sports, and was inherently skilled at them. His favorite football team was the Denver Broncos. He enjoyed playing golf. He spent much time practicing sports with his nieces, nephews, and daughters. Tony spoke of his proudest moments as the ones he spent with his family. He was a great husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He always talked about how thankful he was to be able to watch his daughters and grandchildren grow. Tony, we love you more than you will ever know. There is no doubt that you will continue to watch over us and protect us. Thank you for the enormous impact you’ve had on our lives. You will never, ever, be forgotten. He is survived by his wife, Kim; daughters, Melissa, Nicole, Paige, & Corie; loyal companion, Zeva; grandchildren, Marlee & Cashton; parents, Don & Nancy Dankert, Ron & Connie Rossee; mother and father-in-law Russell & Janet Ochsner, brothers, Don Jr. & Bryan; 5 nieces & nephews; and best friends Lance Bauth & Russell Ochsner.
