Alvin Frank Couture, 67, Rapid City, died Friday, January 30, 2015 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.He was born April 14, 1947 in Yankton, SD and was adopted by Gladys (Marousek) and Zoel L. ‘Fritz’ Couture when he was one.Al grew up in Rapid City graduating from Rapid City High School in 1965. He worked at his parents sporting goods store throughout high school and later joined the US Army Reserves where he remained for 8 years. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America.He married Frances York on October 19, 1965 in Rapid City. They lived in Rapid City where he owned and operated Al’s Tree Service until retiring.Al was a talented musician playing the piano and drums. He was a member of several bands including his favorite the Black Mountain Express. He composed music and wrote the lyrics to the song “If I Could Walk on a Rainbow”, and authored the book ‘My Life with Tourette’s. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time at the Cabin at Moon, SD.He was also a member of the ELKS and Masonic Lodge 220 as a Master Mason.Al is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Frances Couture; two daughters, Amy Couture (Joe Vetter) and Paula Couture all of Rapid City; six grandchildren, Adam, Alexis, Tyler, Zach, Logan and Daniel; 3 great grandchildren and his brother John (Sandy) Fleming, Huron and his faithful companion Soda. He is preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law and his brother-in-law.
