Janette Lois Conger

Janette Lois Conger, 81, Rapid City, died Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Regional Health’s Hospice House.Janette was born June 13, 1934 in Volga, SD to Frank and Elsa (Schore) Illian. She grew up in the Brookings/Volga area graduating from Brookings High School.She married Melvin S. Conger in January, 1955 in Custer. They traveled extensively throughout the United States living in numerous places during Melvin’s military career.Upon Melvin’s retirement, they traveled by motor home to the various homes of their family. Janette settled in Rapid City in 2007.She enjoyed genealogy, hunting, fishing, and many different crafts. She was also an avid reader as well as gardener and canner.Janette was survived by her children, Wayne Conger, Tucson, AZ, Bruce (Jean) Conger, Piedmont, Brian Conger, Twin Falls, ID, Terry (Pamela) Conger, Galena, KS, Sharon Conger, Missoula, MT, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, her twin brother, Jim (Shirley) Illian, Brookings, and a sister, Bernita ‘Nita’ Buescher, Wilmot, SD.She was preceded in death by her husband on May 1, 1997, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.She will be buried with her husband at Black Hills National Cemetery.
