Service Date March 20, 2007
Visitation will be from 9-10:30 am Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home with a graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery at 11:00 am. Immediately following the graveside service we will be having a Memorial Luncheon in Granny’s honor at the Eagle’s Club at 1410 K Centre St. for anyone wishing to share their respects and memories with her friends and family.

Zita Pauline Rose (Granny) Amick passed away at her home (2343 Sweetbriar St.), on Friday, March 16, 2007. Granny was born on August 5, 1918 in Utica, South Dakota to Albert Borgheiinck and Lena Heinesh Borgheiinck. She attended Catholic School in Cedar County where she graduated the 8th grade. Zita and Carroll Eugene Amick were married on January 11, 1946 in Yankton, SD. Together they shared 6 children, Marcia and her husband Lyle of Bennington, Idaho, Calvin Olson and his wife Dolores, Rapid City, SD, Charlotte Willey of Rapid City, SD, Doug Amick and his wife Linda, Rapid City, SD, Lyndon Amick of Rapid City, SD, and Craig Amick and special friend Deb Hagen of Rapid City, SD.Granny spent her life being a housewife and caring for her husband of 57 years and raising her children. She spent countless hours at the Black Hills Speedway watching Doug, Lyndon, and Craig drive stock car. She was also very proud of her grandson Lynn, who continued the family tradition and began a competitive racing career. Every Saturday you could find her washing the boys’ fire suits or washing and waxing their race cars so they would be ready for the next race night. She loved gardening, canning and spending time with her grandchildren. Granny lived for the things she was the most proud of and helped in raising and cherishing her small grandchildren. For the past year Granny enjoyed going to the Eagle’s for bingo on Wednesday nights and on Friday’s for their steak special.Granny is survived in death by 2 sons, Doug and Craig Amick, 2 daughters, Charlotte Willey and Marcia Lewis, 12 grandchildren, Wanda Galindo, Candi Amick-Watts, Lynn Amick, Vicki Schroeder, Jeff Olson, Clinton Sayler, Jennifer Farren, Gretchen Amundson, Lonnie Evans, Ellie Fletcher, John Lewis, Lesa James; 19 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, along with many friends that will miss her dearly.Granny was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Lena Borgheiinck, her sister Martha, 2 brothers Embrose and Frankie, 2 grandsons Shawn and Paul Amick, 2 sons, Lyndon Amick and Calvin Olson, and her husband, Carroll Amick.
