Richard (Dick) E. Anton, 79, Rapid City died Friday April 15, 2011 at Golden Livingcenter Meadowbrook. He was born December 23, 1931 in Wessington Springs, SD to Nick and Blanche (Jobe) Anton. Dick entered the US Army 9-9-1952. While serving his country he received the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars; United Nations Service Medal; National Defense Service Medal; ROK (Republic of Korea) Presidential Unit Citation Good Conduct Medal and he was honorably discharged 9-11-1954 Dick lived in Wessington Springs, SD; Glendale, CA; Woonsocket, SD; Mitchell, SD; and Rapid City, SD. When living in Wessington Springs, he served on the Fire Department and various offices in the VFW. He owned a repair shop in Glendale, CA. Dick is survived by brother, David (Janet) Anton, Fresno, Ca and sisters, Bernadine (Nicky) Bjorkman, Sioux Falls, SD and Margaret (Peg) Segovia, Honomu, HI, Brother-in-law, Patrick (Pat) Cahill, Woonsocket, SD, 6 nieces; 10 nephews and a special friend, Joyce Webb, Rapid City, SD. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Lou Cahill and 2 brother-in-laws, John Bjorkman and Andrew (Andy) Segovia. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 2, 2011 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help with Father Michel Mulloy celebrating. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m., with the rosary service at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Rushmore VFW Post #1273 Honor Guard.
