Nadine E Patterson, 67, Hermosa, died unexpectedly Thursday Dec 7 2006 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. She was born May 8, 1939 to John & Elva Patterson at Carthage SD. She graduated from DeSmet SD High Schoo1 in 1957. She married Martin Bauman the same year and moved to Rapid City in 1958. Nadine worked at Custer State Hospital in Custer SD as a nurse’s aide and decided to pursue a nursing career. She graduated from LPN school in 1977 and went on to become a Registered Nurse while working at Custer State Hospital and raising her children. She was a nurse at Rapid City Regional Hospital on the Oncology Ward for 8 years and then went to the Same Day Surgery Center for 5 years. Nadine was also a traveling nurse for 3 years. She retired from Nursing in 2004. Presently she was employed at Sams club as a food demonstrator and enjoyed all the people she would see. Nadine was an avid reader and passed her love on to her grandchildren by giving them a variety of books. She loved to experiment with cooking and was an exceptional cook and baker and blessed many of us with decorated cakes. She was a master gardener and loved to garden and landscape. She shared her enthusiasm for beading and making jewelry with her sister, daughters and grandchildren. She also blessed her children with pictures she painted. She is survived by her mother Elva Patterson, Rapid City; Sister, Marlys Shull, Oregon; Brother Lewis Patterson, Howard SD; Children, Shirley (Rick) Whiting, Rapid City, Scott Bauman, Rapid City, Sharon (David) Wagner, Lovell, WY, Sheryl Bauman, Black Hawk. Her sisters children were like her own children, Jake Puckett, Mt Angel, OR, David (Dawn) Puckett, Hermosa, Karen Puckett, Black Hawk. Her brothers children were all very special to her, Curt (Linda) Patterson, Omaha, NE, Jennifer (Darrel) Seurer, Huron, SD, Tom (Joan) Patterson, Madison, Greg (Deb) Patterson, Colome. She had 7 grandchildren who were the world to her, Michael (Chanda) Whiting, Brandy (Mike) Janey, Christina Steele, Sarah Bauman, Shannon Wagner, David Wagner, Derricka Bauman. Great Nieces, Ashley Puckett, Sarah (Phillip) Myers; Great great Niece Genevieve Myers. She was preceded in death by her father John J Patterson and her daughter Sharlene Bauman.
