Leona Mae Jakeway was born October 3, 1926 in Rapid City, to Earl and Emma (Mashek) Edwards. She entered the House of Our Lord, Monday March 30, 2015 at Golden Livingcenter Bella Vista. Leona married George F. Jakeway, July 29, 1944 in Kadoka. Moving to Rapid City, the couple purchased land and a two room home, building on as their family grew. Leona continued to live in the family home until entering Bella Vista Nursing Center in 2010. Leona was a member of the American Legion for several years, serving as President for the Lady’s Auxiliary in the 1980’s. She enjoyed embroidering pillow cases, dish towels and working in her strawberry and flower gardens. She also enjoyed the fragrance of lilacs which are numerous at the family home. Leona is survived by two daughters, Margaret Miglia, Rapid City; Marcia (Richard) Curtis, Rawlins, WY; son, Dale (Carla) Jakeway, Rapid City; grandchildren, Rick Curtis, Rawlins, WY; Theresa (Jerry) Curtis-Marlow, Idaho Springs, CO; DonniAnn (Miles) Miglia-Southern, Newton, IA; Cory Jakeway, Rapid City and Dana (Tyler) Schimmel, Vermillion; great grandchildren, Blake and Madison Miglia; Devin, Chloe and Dylan Marlow and Elie and Mady Curtis; sister-in-law, Betty Jakeway, Timberlake and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband George and two brothers, Leroy and Lloyd Edwards.
