Larry Gene Dethlefs, 80, Rapid City, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. He was born February 13, 1937 in Alpena, SD to Daniel and Ruth (Cunningham) Dethlefs. He attended school in Alpena. Larry married Nancy Hein on February 6, 1958 and they were married for 55 years. He served his country in the US Navy and the National Guard. He loved working as an over-the-road truck driver until health issues decided his retirement. Larry loved to spend time with family, friends and his dog Zoey. His favorite pastime was watching and reading old westerns. His favorite was John Wayne. He is survived by his children, Brad, Rapid City; Travis (Nancy), Pipestone, MN; John, Rapid City; Larri Ann ‘Missy’ (Rod) Cowan, Longview, TX; grandchildren; great grandchildren and brothers. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, sons Milton and Leon, his parents and two sisters.
