We were next door neighbors in the 1960's in North Rapid and at least twice in her old age, Jim went to visit my mother Martha when she was still in her own home. She really enjoyed the visits and I always wanted to thank him for it. It is a reflection of the kind of man he was. So, Thanks Jim, and my condolences to the family.

Elaine, David, Deanna, and family: Our heartfelt sympathy to all of you as so many mourn with you at this time. We all have many good memories of Jim. He impacted many lives through his years of service to several different communities, his time in the legislature, his time on different boards and the list is long! Our memories of him are the times spent with him at the cabin and at family gatherings during holidays. We all will remember his life as so very well-lived. Caring prayers for all of you--

Elaine, Dave and family: Peace to you as you feel the passing of Jim. When he came to the Rapid City office of BHP over the years, we visited some. He was always upbeat even on days that must have tossed him an unexpected industry or legislative curve now and then. Always professional. I know Joe had the opportunity to work with Jim for many years and respected him and his leadership accomplishments.

I was saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. I got to know him well when he was in the Senate. He would take me out to lunch and loved to be caught up on all the Claymore news. My grandfather was Jim’s uncle, Eddie Claymore. My condolences to you and may he rest in peace. He was a good and kind man.

Elaine, David and family. What a wonderful gentleman Jim was! I feel so lucky to have been represented in business, community service, and political efforts by someone of Jim’s character. While we actually “lost” him some time ago, now he and you can finally be at peace. My sympathies to you all.
