Gavyn Lee Wright, 15, of Rapid City, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017, in Rapid City. Gavyn was born in Rapid City to Ashley McKillop and Lonnie Wright on October 18, 2001.  He attended Meadowbrook Elementary then Southwest Middle School and recently Stevens High School as a freshman.  He loved his family, animals and the outdoors. Gavyn enjoyed fishing, hiking, riding his horse “Smokey Joe”, playing video games, being a big brother, and spending time with friends.  Some of his favorite spots were Falling Rock and Hippie Hole.

As a young boy Gavyn loved spending time with his Grandmother and Grandfather on their farm where he got to ride horses, drive the tractor, shoot guns and fish at the river. He also enjoyed spending time at his Great Grandma Doris’s swimming pool with his cousin’s aunts and uncles and other family and friends. During the summer Gavyn “hunted” golf balls in Rapid Creek and at his dad’s house and sold them to area golfers and occasionally set up a lemonade stand. Gavyn enjoyed skateboarding, watching movies, riding his dirt bike, playing “Army” and eating biscuits and gravy.

Gavyn was very adventurous and loved to try new things. His heart was as big as his sense of adventure and had a sense of humor to match. Gavyn enjoyed helping others and making sure others felt comfortable around him.  From a very young age he had a desire to join the armed forces and serve his country after high school.

Gavyn is preceded in death by Great Grandmother Doris, sister Emma, Great Grandmother Mary Fire Thunder Wright all of Rapid City.  Gavyn is survived by mother Ashley & stepdad Krzysiu, father Lonnie Wright, Kevin Paugh, siblings Matt, Jenny, Cetan, Haidyn, Celia, Orah, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.
