Frank Raymond Hemsher went peacefully into the arms of his Lord on Sunday, February 17, 2008. He was born on February 20, 1948 in Newport News, Virginia to Marie Agnes (Jazek) Hemsher and Clifford Hemsher. Frank attended Catholic schools, public schools and graduated from Central High School in 1966 at Rapid City, SD. He attended Black Hills State College and graduated from auto body repair tech. Frank was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1968 and returned home to Piedmont where his family had moved. He met Cathy Ohlrogge (first date was on Friday, September 13th) and they were married August 27, 1971. They were blessed with three wonderful sons, Duane, James and Scott. Throughout Frank’s life, he taught his wife and family to enjoy God’s creations. Fishing, hunting, walking, learning to shoot, enjoying the mountains, driving in the country and especially playing in the snow. He lived life to the fullest and loved his family, kids, and grandkids. Frank worked a Jacobson Ford, Weidmann Body Shop and as a hydrator for Pete Lien & sons in Rapid City. The family then moved to Livingston, Montana where he worked at Kiefer Body Shop. The family then moved back to the Hills and lived in Black Hawk where he worked at Volkswagen Body Shop. The family then went on a new adventure to Laramie, Wyoming. Frank became a teacher at Wyoming Technical Institute. He taught auto body, paint, and custom paint. In 1995, Frank moved his family to Faith, SD and then to Rapid City where he taught at Western Dakota Technical Institute until his retirement in 2004. Frank believed in supporting his community. He was a volunteer fireman in Piedmont, SD and Livingston, Montana. He also was an EMT in Livingston. He was a lifetime member of the Piedmont Valley American Legion Post #311 and proudly served as commander from 2004 to 2007. He always looked forward to playing Bingo, helping at the steak feeds, and was named District Legionnaire in 2004. He found time to tumble rocks and was always pleased at the final product and always enjoyed carving wood and making gun stocks. Frank was preceded in death by his son James Hemsher, his mother Marie (Jazek) Hemsher and his sister Marianna Pederson. He is survived by his wife Catherine (Ohlrogge) Hemsher of 39 years and their family: Duane and Tena Hemsher and their kids Jessica, Katelyn, Curtis, Shane, Brandon and their grandkids Jazlin and Addyson; Scott and Corrina Hemsher; Amanda Brost and son Timber; Tony and Becky Bell and kids Holden, Sophia and Lillian.
