Funeral service will be Saturday March 25, 2017, 10:00am at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Jean Helmer officiating. Visitation will be from 9-10am prior to the service. Interment will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 27th at Black Hills National Cemetery

Frances Marion Thorn (96) died March 9, 2017 in Colorado Springs, CO surrounded by her loving family. Frances was born on December 22, 1920 in Rapid City, SD to Frank Alfred Kachelhoffer and Helen Leonna (Sheriff) Kachelhoffer. Frances married Steven Lewis Thorn September 9, 1941 in Draper, SD. They lived in Murdo until 1942 when Steven enlisted in the Army. Frances lived in Belle Fourche during this time and worked in the AAA office. In 1945 they moved to Alliance, NE. In 1946 Frances gave birth to twin daughters. 1948 Sheryl was born and 1951 Steven Bruce was born. They later moved to Rapid City where they resided until 1997 when she moved to Las Cruces, NM to reside with her daughter and son-in-law. 2001 Frances moved with her daughter and son-in-law to Colorado Springs where she remained until her death. The Rapid City Eastern Star Golden Link Chapter #14 O.E.S was a big part of her life for 75 years. During this time she went through the chairs and in 1972 she served as ‘Worthy Matron’. She was an avid animal lover, and very supportive. She was blessed with 8 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren. And 1 great-great grandson whom she loved spending time with. She is survived by her daughter Sheryl (Bruce) Colorado Springs, CO; daughter-in-law Jody, Pahrump, NV; 8 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Steven November 21, 1996, twin daughters, son Steven September 3, 2011, parents, 2 brothers, Raymond Kachelhoffer, Donald Kachelhoffer, 1 sister Dorothy Boyer, and grandson Dakota Johndrow.
