Eleanor M. Steele, 80, Rapid City, died Tuesday July 5, 2011 at Rapid City Regional Hospital of natural causes. She was born Feb. 26, 1931 in Watertown, SD to Harrison and Gertrude (Christenson) Newell. Eleanor grew up in the Garden City area where she graduated from Garden City High School in 1949. She attended 2 years of college and received her Teacher’s Degree. She married Charles ‘Bud’ Steele in 1951. She was a TOPS member. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery; stock cars and Tom Jones. She is survived by her husband, Charles ‘Bud’ Steele, Rapid City; three sons, Charles ‘Chuck’ Steele, Sundance, WY; Darrell Steele and Tom Steele, both of Rapid City; and her daughter Helen Welch, Reno, NV; 7 grandchildren, Laura, Pam and Chuck Steele, Casper, WY; Sara Jefferson, Reno, NV and Justin, Stephanie and Tristen Steele, Rapid City; 5 great grandchildren, Tayah Regnier; Tarran, Charles and Dominic Steele all of Casper, WY and Mason Steele, Rapid City; her nephew Rodger Christensen and many other nephews and great nephews.
