Dear Ann, We read about Don's passing and I didn't have your address so thought I would send a note this way and hope you get it. We are so sorry and pray for your strength and courage. You have been through a lot these last couple years and I certainly understand. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers and we wish all the best for you as time goes by and healing takes place. God bless you!!! Don was a kind and thoughtful soul, generous in every way. We were so lucky to have him in our lives. He was a wonderful grandfather to Gabe and Zoe and a caring husband to my mom. I'm grateful for the many years they were able to travel and enjoy life together. We will miss you so much, Don. You will always be in our hearts and remembered with love. xoxoxoxo

I was always inspired by Don,and Terry too. What a wonderful set of parents you all had. They opened their hearts to all they met. Rest in Peace Don and Terry. My condolences to Ann, and all the sons and daughters and grandkids and partners. We all have fond memories to carry with us. Dale

To Don's family and my dear friend Ann, my thoughts and prayers are with you all! What an amazing man! I had the privilege of caring for Don when I worked at Clarkson. I will never forget the term "down the hatch" and will always think of Don when I hear it!

Mr. Thorson was one of my favorite teachers at SDSM&T in the 60's. My deepest sympathy to the Thorson family.

Don had retired from SDSMT a couple of years before I arrived as a young research professor. I first got to know him at forums held weekly by United Campus Ministries. Over the years we would run into each other here and there, more recently it was often at First United Methodist Church. I remember a fine 90th birthday celebration at the Journey a few years ago. Thanks, Don, for all you contributed to our campus and community.
