In the early 1950’s, she immigrated to the United States to live in Sioux Falls with her sister and brother-in-law and later became a United States citizen. She worked at her brother-in-law’s Greek restaurant, where she began to learn the English language. On June 17, 1962, she married George N. Bovopoulos at a Greek Orthodox Church in Sioux Falls. Because her husband enjoyed hunting and fishing, they moved to Rapid City soon after their marriage. To this marriage, two daughters were born: Stravoula (Voula) and Nikoletta (Niki).Dimitria was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She loved to dance, listen to music, bake and tend her garden and numerous rose bushes and flower gardens. She loved to walk and loved nature. She was funny and was always chuckling. Her kind hearted nature was evident in everything she did and said. She was preceded in death by her husband (Rapid City); both her parents (Greece); her brothers, Perto and John Papadopoulos (Athens, Greece); her sister, Elene Kotsines (Sioux Falls); numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Dimitria is survived by both her daughters, Voula Sauer (Colorado), Niki Bovopoulos (Wyoming); a granddaughter, Kirsten (Doug) Stewart (Colorado); and four great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Makayla, Kristina and Calvyn.
