David LeRoy Rietveld, 67Dave was born September 18, 1948, and died February 2, 2016. He spent most of his younger years in Escalon, California helping his dad on a peach and almond farm. After graduating from high school, he joined the Navy and spent most of his time in the boiler room. Upon his discharge, he became a master carpenter and cabinet maker, continuing in that vocation until his death. He was a conversationalist who enjoyed answering with a quick retort. When asked how he was feeling today he would answer, “with my fingers”. He was known for his firm handshake and quick ability to grab the finger tips. He loved cooking, hiking and wood splitting.He was so happy to finally learn the truth about Jehovah and symbolized his dedication on June 18, 1983. He was a spiritual rock to his family and supported his wife in the pioneer service for 10 years.He was father and best friend to his son, Erick, and they were partners in the construction business for 20 years. He loved going to Kingdom Hall builds, particularly those in the Midwest as he savored the cookies made by the farm ladies. He also eagerly anticipated conventions and would start saving for the next one immediately on returning home.The most important person in his life was Jehovah and no obstacle could stop him from serving God to the best of his ability. His family hopes to always follow his example of faithful service.He is survived by his wife Becky, his son Erick, his step-daughter Stephanie, his mother Mabel, five siblings and all their families. He was preceded in death by his step-son, Larry and his father.
