Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday April 30, 2014 at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home, followed by a rosary service at 7 p.m.. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday May 1, 2014 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery

Audrey S. Goeden, 89, Rapid City, died Monday April 28, 2014 at Rapid City Regional Hospice House. She was born June 6, 1924 in her parents’ home south of Herrick, SD. She was the second child of Abraham and Wilhmina Mayer. She graduated from Burke High School in 1943 and then to Springfield SD College the summer of ’43. Audrey taught school near Lucas, SD during the ’43-’44 school year. In 1944-’45, Audrey met her future husband Othmar Goeden while she was teaching his siblings in school near Paxton. Othmar and Audrey were married June 6, 1945 at St John Catholic Church, Paxton, SD. They lived in Paxton 2 years and then purchased a farm 1 mile east of Paxton. They farmed there for 31 years, raising their children, LaVon, Ruth, Robert and Daniel. She loved spending time with family and friends. They retired, sold the farm and moved to Rapid City in 1979, where she enjoyed fishing, camping and outdoor activities with family. Recently it was card parties, coffee and outings with her friends at Echo Ridge. Audrey enjoyed life and being with people. She was a member of the Altar societies at St Johns Catholic Church in Paxton, Gregory Catholic Church and the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. She was also secretary of the Paxton Telephone Company. While at Echo Ridge, she worked for the grocery store and volunteered with the library and was a member of the Red Hat Ladies. Everyone loved her smile! Audrey was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Othmar Goeden, April 1998, her daughter Ruth Hespe Livermore in 1975, infants Ronald and Maryann, her granddaughter Bobbi Jo (Hespe) Schommer in 2009, 2 sisters, Francis Arlene in 1981 and Viola in 1985 and her parents. She is survived by her daughter, LaVon Green, San Diego, CA; two sons, Robert (Janice), Ephrata, WA and Daniel (Angie), Hermosa; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Norven Mayer, Norfolk, NE and Milo Mayer, Bonneau, SC.
