From one Rockhound to another, now you have a whole new place to hunt rocks. Rest in peace,

I enjoyed knowing Al from the rock club where we were members. He named the club newsletter years ago. Bought rocks in his rock shop. Goodbye, Al.

I knew Alvin from his days on the City Council. He proved himself as a very good leader of the City.

Alvin has been in my life as long as I can remember. So many good times were shared by our families, so many times I watched him interact with my grandchildren as he taught them about rocks or critters, times when we had backyard picnics, swimming across the street at the public pool, combing our way through the basement collection of rocks and stuffed animals as we saw everything with new eyes each time, and who can forgot his constant array of stories. Only once did I see him speechless: when his sister pointed her finger at his sick body and told him he was not to move out of his chair. “What if I have to go to the bathroom?” he asked. Her reply...” I’ll go down the basement and get a jar for you! Don’t move!” He brought much joy into my life, my family’s life and that of my grandkids. He will be missed. Keep telling those stories, Alvin. You have a whole new crop of listeners now.

We are saddened to hear of Al’s passing. He was a special man and a dear friend over the years. So many happy memories of rockhounding trips and talking antiques. You will be missed Al.
