Alice LaVerne McGuire

Service Date December 28, 2017
Burial will be at 2p.m., Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. Memorial Service will be at 3p.m. at United Church of Christ, 423 Elm St., St Onge, with Pastor Del Neumeister officiating. A meal will be served at 4p.m. at the St. Onge Community Hall. Everyone is invited.

Alice LaVerne (Larsen) McGuire at 87 years old passed away on Thursday December 21st 2017. Alice was born May 1, 1930 in Pierre South Dakota to John Richard Larsen and Lucy Irene (Ward) Larsen. Alice attended and graduated school in Midland South Dakota in 1948. She attended Yankton College for 3 years and taught the third and fourth grades at Midland grade school.
On November 17, 1951 Alice married Francis Charles McGuire and raised five children. Ann McGuire, Fort Worth, Texas; Ellen Reddick, St. Onge; Jo Vroman, St.Onge; John McGuire, Rapid City and Jacki Hutter, Billings, Montana. Jacki, Jo and John are triplets born on Christmas Day.
The family lived briefly in Wessington, SD. Then they lived in the underground house on Alice’s parent’s ranch at Midland. Mac worked on the Larsen and Hermon Bork ranches until 1958 when they moved to Caputa, where the children were raised.
Mac passed away on March 12, 1996 while vacationing in Yuma, Arizona. Alice continued to live in Caputa until 2007, when she moved to Rapid City, and lived out her final years.
She is preceded in death by her parents Lucy and John Larsen, her husband Francis (Mac) McGuire and two grandchildren Sebastian and Cherie Lusty-Wallis and son-in-law Duane Reddick. Survivors include daughter Ann McGuire and her sons Carl and Clayton Lusty-Wallis; daughter Ellen Reddick and her daughters, Erin and Tara Reddick; children Bridger and Micah and friend Billy Hougham; daughter Jo Vroman and husband Mark; children Nikki; Lisa, husband Chance Kvistad; children Kayden, Mylee and Harlan; Lona, husband Jake Downs; child Alexa; son John McGuire; sons Shawn McGuire, wife Stephanie; children Dylan and Gavin; son Justin McGuire and his son Brian McGuire, wife Emily; children Liliana and Nikolai McGuire; and daughter Jacki Hutter; and her sons Matthew and Jacob.
